Linux Lite是一个基于Debian和Ubuntu开发的Linux发行版（即操作系统）。[5] 其配有經過修改的、輕量級的Xfce桌面環境，并包含一组以Lite命名的自有應用程序，對新手用户较为友好。


Linux Lite目的之一是起到「中繼」的作用：帮助用戶平滑地從Windows遷移到Linux操作系統。其在选择软件和编程中遵循這樣的Unix理念：「一個程序做一件事並做好。」[6]。


Linux Lite基于Ubuntu LTS系列版本。[7] LTS代表長期支援，这意味着每个版本都有5年的支持期，即：每5年只需要进行一次重大的更新。在此期间，操作系统将不断收到各类小更新。

历史


Linux Lite起始于2013年发布的Linux Lite 1.0.0（代号为「紫水晶」，[10] 基于 Ubuntu）。它最初关注于将Windows用户吸引到基于Linux的操作系统，这是为了消解Linux难以使用这一固有观念。



版本号


Linux Lite初始阶段的版本号分为三段，例如1.0.0。其中，第一个数字代表Ubuntu中的基础代码，即「1」指Ubuntu 12.04 LTS这一基础系统。第二个数字代表在其间的版本，即「0」指Ubuntu LTS 12.04.1版。第三个数字（「0」）代表此后的任意微小版本。对于2.x版本系列,[11]最后数字暨微小版本号已不需要。
